This is my host mother and sister from my rural homestay. My host mother is making a cabuya bag (a crocheted bag made out of a natural fiber). She is a part of a women's cooperative that makes bags and hats and other things out of cabuya to sell and have an independent source of income. This photo was taken after we walked for 2 hours down a mountainside to feed the cow and collect food for the cuy (guinea pigs). We were waiting for a ride back up the mountain, so my host mom started working on her cabuya. They are wonderful people I met on my trip and they taught me about life in rural Ecuador.
