Part of our acting training at the Accademia dell'Arte was a series of workshops, including a workshop focused on contemporary full-head masks. These students are performing a scene in which a family becomes lost on a hike through the countryside. The use of full-head masks requires performers to use their entire bodies to tell stories, rather than using words or facial expressions. This photo captures the essence of contemporary mask work.
