Farmers in rural communities of the Ashanti Region produce palm wine, commonly referred to as ""white water"", by collecting the juice from palm tree trunks. They then through a distilling process by heating and cooling the liquid, turning it into alcohol. People of the Ashanti Region use the clear, sweet palm wine for both recreational as well as ceremonial purposes.
