This is a picture of the glass dome on the roof of the Reichstag, the building in which the German parliament meets. Its unique appearance makes it one of the most recognizable aspects of Berlin's built environment visually. This visual prominence combined with its design as a symbol of a reunified and democratic Germany also places it prominently among the structures of German iconography.
