The quality of this photograph is not at its best, but that is because it was taken of the Pope as he went by the crowds of hundreds of people in the piazza outside of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome on Palm Sunday (and as you can see from the many hands and cameras being lifted up by various others in the shot, it was a hard one to snap). Though I am not religious myself (and I'm definitely not Catholic), it was a truly incredible experience to visit St. Peter's on that day and to see massive amounts of people cheering in so many different languages for the Pope. The Pope is such an important historical symbol in Western culture, and so it was pretty cool to get to see the most recent Pope so close.
